The WHO Office for Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety in Athens, Greece, in collaboration with the WHO European Mental Health Flagship, through the Programme on Quality of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Care, will launch the first WHO Young Researchers Forum on Improving the Quality of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Care on 4 June.
The initiative is tailored to young experts and researchers in the WHO European Region and aims to improve the quality of child and adolescent mental health care by supporting cutting-edge research and interdisciplinary partnerships.
About the Forum
The Forum’s purpose is to foster a dynamic community dedicated to pioneering solutions in the quality of child and adolescent mental health care. Central to its mission is improving data quality and availability, recognizing the essential role that robust, accessible data plays in developing effective interventions and informed policy decisions. Through its focus on data enhancement, the Forum strives to provide researchers with the tools and insights necessary to drive significant improvements in mental health care practice and outcomes.
The forum is aimed at young researchers and professionals aged 18-30 from the WHO European Region who are passionate about improving the quality of child and adolescent mental health services. This audience includes students, recent graduates, postdoctoral researchers and young professionals at the early stage of their careers in fields related to mental health, such as psychology, psychiatry, public health, social work and education.
Overall, the Forum envisions building a dynamic ecosystem where young researchers can innovate and take the lead in improving mental health outcomes.
Its main objectives are:
Fostering interdisciplinary and international collaboration: Encouraging partnerships across diverse disciplines and countries to holistically address mental health challenges. Building research capacity and creativity: Using innovative methods and digital technologies to explore new dimensions of mental health research. Strengthening community and support: Building supportive networks that foster well-being, peer mentorship and collective growth. Promoting sustainability and impact: Ensuring that research and initiatives are scalable, impactful and contribute to real-world improvements in mental health care.
