A travel influencer has revealed the “most amazing country” she’s ever visited, and it’s not a typical destination like Greece or Thailand.
Globe-trotting content creator “Jordyn” expressed surprise that this hidden gem is not as well known, despite its breathtaking beaches, majestic mountains, and enchanting cities. She was particularly impressed with the destination’s affordability, noting that even the most luxurious spots offer meals at incredibly cheap prices.
“The most amazing country we’ve ever visited,” she highlighted in a TikTok post (@wheretonexttt__). “This is not the Philippines, Switzerland, Greece, Italy or Thailand! It’s not Portugal! It’s Albania.”
Although we only spent a week in Albania, Jourdin felt we could have extended our stay by a month, given the wealth of experiences to be had in this oft-overlooked European gem. She highly recommends a visit to Tirana, Albania’s vibrant capital, filled with museums, historical monuments and a vibrant nightlife.
For beach lovers and seafood lovers, the coastal town of Saranda is a must-see, while just an hour’s drive away is the unique UNESCO World Heritage site of Gjirokastra.
Jordyn continued, “This country is located between Greece and Montenegro and I don’t understand why more people don’t know about it! It has such a diverse range of experiences, from the amazing mountains and hiking in the north to the crystal clear calm waters and beautiful beaches in the south, and the rich culture and history of the cities.”
“A cobblestone old town and a UNESCO World Heritage Site… and not to mention the food!”
Bilek is one of Albania’s most famous dishes and is commonly sold at street stalls.
This might be a favourite dish for anyone who loves Cornish pasties, pastries filled with anything from melted cheese to meat and vegetables.
Those with a sweet tooth might also be tempted by the country’s famous baklava, another delicious, nutty pastry that is often drenched in honey.
Jordyn sums it up: “Each place has something different to offer and I would highly recommend them all. I spent two weeks in Albania but could have easily stayed a month.”
