Robotics company VersaTile Automation has raised £8 million in seed investment from Tharsus Group and today launched an automation technology platform to improve productivity in UK warehouses.
VersaTile is run by the team at Tharsus Group, a British manufacturing company that develops advanced automation solutions for many companies around the world, including Rolls-Royce, Ocado and BMW.
VersaTile has used AI to develop a modular automation system for high-load fulfillment centers, transforming the warehouse environment by moving products using a dynamic tiling system.
The “intelligent floor” knows exactly where products are located and can move materials instantly, doubling productivity and requiring only half the space of traditional warehouse systems.
VersaTile is self-learning based on built-in AI capabilities and can adapt to unpredictable changes in real time.It can be integrated into warehouses without modification to existing infrastructure, saving both warehouse space and labor and increasing productivity.
The company’s first customer is Wincanton, and the company is working to improve order picking efficiency for the Wincanton team.
VersaTile’s 3D configuration increases picking and presentation speeds by three times, enabling order picking within minutes.
“VersaTile is excited to partner with NVIDIA to bring its cutting-edge technology to the market,” said Joni Rautavuori, CEO of VersaTile.
“Supply chains are under enormous pressure to meet ever-changing customer demands for shorter delivery times, greater flexibility and lower costs in a sustainable way. Productivity growth and labour shortages are compounding this challenge, particularly in the UK.”
Today’s warehouse operations are under pressure and warehouse employees are under more stress than ever before.
VersaTile’s solution uses advanced technology to solve this problem.”
The scheme will bring highly skilled jobs to the town and surrounding areas which are often overlooked in favour of economic development in London and the South East.
