As Paris Fashion Week heats up, show-goers’ beauty choices are becoming just as bold and over-the-top as those seen on the runway.
In London, following the hair accessory trend seen at Christian Siriano and Alice + Olivia during New York Fashion Week, slicked-back buns topped with dainty pearl hair appliqués were a standout look.
Intricate braided hairstyles were also a talking point, while slicked-back swoopy bangs were also seen among Paris show-goers. Make-up wise, dark black lipstick and lip liner stood out, often contrasted with bleach blonde brows for an edgy gothic glam look.
Black eyeliner was also a big hit, either in a precise, long wing or smudged for a ’90s grunge look. In Milan, “It” girl Gabriette, longtime muse of makeup artist Isamaya Ffrench, perfected the look with a contrasting black and pink lip and heavy black eyeliner.
One visitor to the Paris shows took false lashes to a new level, gluing a few on her upper lash line as well as just above her cheekbone for a more theatrical look.
Even the ultra-feminine, TikTok-popular balletcore trend got the goth treatment, with one London Fashion Week attendee sporting a black hair bow rather than the traditional pink accents.
Meanwhile, bleached hair wasn’t limited to brows: in London, bleached shaved heads were stamped with red apples, simultaneously embracing the social media hair paint trend and the gourmand beauty look trend (you’ve heard of “strawberry girl makeup” – apples seem like a logical next step).
Dark and sexy was the prevailing style overall, but when it came to colour, red reigned supreme, from Alexa Chung’s reddish-orange lips to her striking red eyeshadow and red hair.
