Who has time to get bored in the summer blues while checking out new gadget releases? This month saw the announcement of an update to the Insta360 GO and a new mini-LED QLED from Sony. We also got to go hands-on with the ROG Ally X, which has a bigger battery than the Steam Deck. These waterproof JBL speakers are affordable and perfect for the boat, bike, or anywhere it’s socially acceptable to blast music loud. Here are our favorites for June 2024.

The $400 Insta360 Go 3S isn’t just a pet action camera, but why would you use it for anything else? It’s an update to last year’s GO 3, and it can shoot up to 4K at 30 fps, up from the regular GO 3’s 2.7K max, so you get less distortion as you move. The GO 3S’s lens is wider than the regular GO 3’s, 16mm versus the previous GO’s 11mm, which helps reduce edge distortion.

The $1,300 4K Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 brings all of the color saturation and clarity of the brand’s smartphones to your PC or console gaming experience, with refresh rates up to 240Hz. And if that’s not enough, the Odyssey also lets you stream all of your favorite apps and games without a console.

The $800 ROG Ally X was released this month, just a year after its predecessor, but it now boasts a larger battery pack, more memory and better battery life and performance, along with a redesigned chassis that’s more comfortable for long gaming sessions.

Asus’ new ProArt laptop is a 2-in-1 device powered by chips from AMD and Qualcomm that’s part of the Microsoft Co-Pilot+ rollout, and it at least looks more promising than AI-first PCs from other manufacturers. The base ProArt P16 laptop is essentially the ROG Zephyrus G16 gaming laptop in a thinner, more portable case.

Sony TVs continue to be a great buy. At $2,000, the 65-inch Sony Bravia 7 doesn’t stand out compared to other QLED designs, but its HDR colors are bright and it’s great for watching content. The only caveat is to make sure the TV isn’t pointed directly at the screen, as that can easily cause glare.

Summer is the perfect time to buy a waterproof Bluetooth speaker, especially if you’re going somewhere with music. The JBL Clip 5 and Go 4 both weigh less than a pound, making them easy to carry in a backpack or beach bag. They’re priced at $80 and $50, respectively.
