Second-hand fashion platform Hardly Ever Worn It (Hewi) has opened a store on Amazon Europe, the e-commerce giant announced on Tuesday.
Amazon customers in the US have already been able to shop from What Goes Around Comes Around’s selection of second-hand accessories, but the partnership with Hewi marks the first time that shoppers in the UK, Germany, Spain and Italy will be able to purchase resale items on the e-commerce site.
“We are constantly seeking to innovate and engage with a diverse range of customers, and the launch of pre-owned allows us to do just that, while also creating the opportunity to offer our customers affordable luxury,” Ruth Dias, vice president of Amazon Fashion Europe, said in a statement.
Amazon has become one of the biggest apparel retailers, but it still hasn’t uncovered the secrets of luxury fashion. In 2020, the company launched a new category called Luxury Stores, which carries brands like Oscar de la Renta and Altuzarra. But the category has not caught on with shoppers or merchants, and the product selection is smaller than other e-tailers like Net-a-Porter and MatchesFashion.
