The European Parkinson’s Disease Society, the voice for people living with Parkinson’s disease across the continent, has announced four new additions to its leadership team.
The four new directors elected at the General Assembly as observers for one year bring the total number of directors to 11.
These include:
Claire Vale, Associate Director of Research at Parkinson’s UK Elisabeth Ildal, Founder of Cure4Parkinson’s in Denmark Cathy Mollohan, International Relations Manager at the Yuvedo Foundation in Germany Janet Sinclair, Co-Founder of Action Parkinson in Belgium
“On behalf of Parkinson’s Europe, I would like to thank our new board members for taking the bold step of dedicating their time and expertise to supporting not only Parkinson’s Europe, but people living with Parkinson’s disease in particular,” said Russell Patten, the organisation’s executive director.
“Our new members bring a wealth of experience and expertise that Parkinson’s Europe needs to drive the organisation forward at a time when there is so much to do.”
Claire Vale will be the second British person to join Parkinson’s Europe’s board, following Andy Butler.
After training across the Commonwealth, Bale has spent the past 16 years working for Parkinson’s UK, an affiliate of Parkinson’s European Society.
Parkinson’s UK recently funded groundbreaking research at University College London, helping to develop a new blood test that can accurately predict the disease up to seven years before symptoms appear.
Paten also announced the resignation of Tzipi Shaish, director of the Israel Parkinson’s Disease Association.
“Tzipi was a fantastic and active advocate for Parkinson’s Europe and we will miss her very much,” he said.
“She will continue to be active in the Parkinson’s European Society and we look forward to continuing to work with her and the Israeli Parkinson’s Disease Association.”
