The Spring 2024 ready-to-wear season was marked by unpredictable weather (scorching heat in New York, torrential rain in Milan), which influenced the season’s street style trends, but lucky for us, show-goers always dress to the nines, regardless of the temperature.
Some trends reflected the need for atmosphere, like cardigans wrapped around the shoulders or shopping bag capes that attempted to protect actual leather goods. In contrast, some trends felt like they reflected a specific era, like the green-and-pink Polly Pocket look. Those born in the 2000s might associate this with Cosmo and Wanda from Nickelodeon’s The Fairly OddParents, but for others, the color combo was an ode to a viral moment from Loewe’s Fall 2023 show.
And it’s not just the runways that inspire us, especially when we have to keep an eye on social media and TikTok: The internet says Martine Rose’s vibrant Nike Shox sneakers are the latest must-have, and Gen Z in New York City says metallic bottoms are an essential part of their going-out uniform.
As always, no street style trend report this season would be complete without an appearance from Miu Miu, and the influence of the Fall 2023 collection was felt all over the city, with Mia Goth, Abby Champion, Lianne Van Rompaey and fellow models walking in see-through skirts and teeny-tiny librarian reading glasses.

This season’s color-blocking trend included Barbie pink and a refreshing green reminiscent of the hit 2000s animated show, The Fairly OddParents.
