OpenAI announced a new committee that will provide recommendations on AI safety and security to its board of directors. The committee is made up of OpenAI’s top leaders, including CEO Sam Altman. OpenAI said in its announcement that the committee will evaluate and develop the company’s processes and safeguards over the “next 90 days.” After the 90 days are up, the committee will share its recommendations with the board, which will then make them publicly available.
Similarly, Mark Zuckerberg announced Meta’s new AI Advisory Board, comprised of four executives, who will meet regularly with Meta’s entire leadership team to guide the company’s AI strategy at the highest level. In its last earnings call, Meta revealed plans to spend $5 billion more on AI products than it had initially forecast. The company also committed earlier this year to commit $35 million to AI spending through 2024.

As entrepreneurs around the world see opportunities in AI, France is emerging as a leader in AI innovation and funding in Europe. France-based startups have raised more than $2 billion to date. For example, Mistral AI has raised hundreds of millions of dollars; H raised $220 million in a seed round; and Poolside raised $400 million at a $2 billion valuation to build cogeneration tools for developers using GenAI.

LinkedIn has built an AI-powered career coach that doubles as a resume builder, a tool built directly into the LinkedIn platform. The company built a generative model trained on human career coaches and their advice, as well as professional resumes and cover letters, to help job seekers create these job assets and evaluate their qualifications against other applicants.
