Uber is entering the yachting industry, expanding boating options across Europe and capitalizing on the popular form of transportation.
The ride-sharing company plans to expand its Uber Boat options to popular destinations like Ibiza, Venice, and Athens, Uber told Travel + Leisure. New boat options will include private yachts, floating limousines, and more.
“At Uber, we want to give our customers the opportunity to get where they want to go, no matter where they’re traveling,” said Anabel Dias, Uber’s vice president of mobility EMEA, in a statement shared with T+L. “This summer, we’re adding bucket-list experiences at sea to the Uber app in some of Europe’s most popular destinations, helping vacationers make the most of their trips on the water. Whether they’re sailing around Ibiza on their own private yacht or experiencing the Venetian lagoon by boat, we’re thrilled to be able to add some Uber magic to our customers’ vacations this summer.”
In Ibiza, travelers can book a private yacht for up to eight people for a day through the app, departing daily at noon from Ibiza Town Marina. The option, available from July 26, includes a personal skipper, a luxury food and drink assortment, an Uber souvenir bag, and door-to-door transportation by Uber Black van. And the best part: it’s just 200 euros ($214.53) per person. Uber Yacht is available through August and requires reservations at least 24 hours in advance.
In Venice, Uber is introducing a limo boat option, available on demand from July 3. At launch, there will be around 200 dedicated drop-off and pick-up points across Venice. Each limo can accommodate up to six people and will cost 120 euros ($128.72) per trip.
Uber is also expanding its boat options in Greece, launching in Athens, Mykonos, Santorini and Corfu later this month, with prices starting from 200 euros ($214.53) depending on location.
Uber first launched UberBoat in Mykonos last year, and is planning to add a free sightseeing option on Paris’ River Seine in time for the Olympics. The service, called Uber Cruise, will include a free hour-long tour around the City of Lights on an all-electric boat, and will be available from July 12 to August 3.
