In January 2024, Proxiad SEE established a new subsidiary, Proxiad Health Tech. The team of IT specialists and biomedical engineers is already working on various projects in the healthcare sector. The company’s goals this year include attracting new clients and further expanding its expertise and team in this field.
Q: Why did Proxiad decide to enter the healthcare sector and how did Proxiad Health Tech come about?
Alexander Milev: Healthcare has undergone a significant digitalization in recent years. New technologies and artificial intelligence have further advanced the healthcare sector, giving rise to numerous products and innovations. Our partnership with several clients in this sector has allowed us to closely observe the latest trends in medicine and acquire niche knowledge. The growing need for such expertise led us to expand our current activities and take the next step by founding a specialized company focused on these needs. As a result, we founded Proxiad Health Tech at the beginning of 2024.
Q: How does Proxiad Health Tech operate and what are your main activities?
Alexander Milev: Proxiad Health Tech encompasses five key elements to provide comprehensive services to healthcare companies: years of expertise in software product development, qualified professionals combining technical and medical education, specialized experience in medical devices, solid knowledge of the healthcare sector, and certifications in handling and trading medical devices, which propels us forward as one of the few companies offering a combination of all these activities under one roof.
Q: How many people work at Proxiad Health Tech and what are their roles? Are you planning on expanding your team by the end of the year?
Alexander Milev: Our current team consists of 45+ professionals with a wide range of expertise, serving different divisions and departments of our clients. Roles include Biomedical Engineers, Verification and Validation Engineers, Angular, ReactJS, .NET, C++, Java, Full Stack Developers, Quality Assurance, Azure Cloud Ops, DevOps, UI/UX Designers, Technical Leads, Delivery Managers, etc. This experience allows us to provide specialized services and meet specific needs of the market.
By the end of this year, we plan to expand our team by 20% by expanding existing projects and launching new initiatives with industry players. As a newly established company, we will also focus on positioning our new brand through various marketing efforts in Europe and North America.
Q: Are there enough well-trained biomedical engineers? How do you plan to meet future needs?
Alexander Milev: We have enough well-trained biomedical engineers to meet the needs of our organization and our customers. On a larger scale, the availability of such expertise is limited, as it is a very niche field. This is one of the roles that gives us a competitive advantage in the market. For this reason, we are planning to organize an academy to develop such talent within our organization.
Q: What are some of the first projects that Proxiad Health Tech has already implemented or is planning to launch?
Alexander Milev: The projects we work on in the healthtech industry are very interesting and our main motivation is to have a significant impact on people’s health.
One project involves streamlining the flow of large amounts of medical data and helping medical professionals obtain meaningful, aggregated information. This includes developing communication drivers for medical devices, solutions for analyzing data streams, and testing communication modules.
Another project focuses on improving clinical supervision by providing real-time monitoring in various healthcare facilities. The project consolidates detailed data from all connected devices to provide a comprehensive view of the patient’s condition and personalized notifications. This will play a key role in overcoming overload in complex hospital environments by providing healthcare teams with reliable and timely patient metrics during transport, enabling informed decision-making.
We also work on managing medical data collected from various medical devices fitted to patients in hundreds of hospitals. Our team has created a module in charge of processing this data to improve patient care, increase hospital efficiency and support healthcare providers with real-time access to vital medical information. All development and device testing is carried out in Proxiad SEE offices.
Another important point is that we are a Qlik Certified Partner, developing advanced yet easy-to-use visual tools to help pharmaceutical companies monitor the effectiveness of their medical representative sales force.
Q: Do you have plans to expand into new projects or clients in the future? In what areas do you plan to expand?
Alexander Milev: This is the main purpose of creating Proxiad Health Tech. Our strategy is to continuously build on our existing expertise in various technological areas of the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry. We will focus on medical devices and data processing, telemedicine, digital tools for secure processing of health information, digital platforms with medical solutions and services, health data processing and analytics.
Q: What are Proxiad Health Tech’s long-term development plans?
Alexander Milev: Our long-term goal is to establish Proxiad Health Tech as a hub of comprehensive expertise in the healthcare sector, offering a complete and integrated service that meets the individual needs of companies in this sector. We are ready to face the upcoming challenges and build partnerships that will serve as the basis for new products and innovative solutions.
