In June, Gizmodo Australia had plenty of gadget fun, including Australia’s best 4K TV from Samsung and the cheapest electric car you can buy right now.
So, let’s get the show started: these are the five coolest gadgets the Gizmodo Australia team tried out in June.
Phone with nothing 2a
It must be Nothing. Our friend Alex Kidman from Gizmodo Australia has reviewed the Nothing Phone 2a. It’s Nothing’s latest smartphone, which retains the brand’s iconic backlit aesthetic but focuses on the lower end of the market. Alex points out that the aesthetic design, from the monochrome OS to the “glyph” hardware design, is likely to be polarizing among users. That said, the internal specs are impressive, the battery life is outstanding, and overall it’s a well-rounded phone for the sub-$600 price point.

GWM Ora EV
The title of Australia’s cheapest EV went to the GWM Ora EV, which was slashed in price earlier this year and we finally got to test drive one in June. It’s worth praising for being the cheapest option, the car’s mileage isn’t too bad and it looks pretty good, but we were a bit disappointed with how it felt on long drives. Compared to slightly more expensive EVs like the MG4 and BYD Dolphin, the GWM Ora is a tough sell.

Sonos Ace
Sonos’ first foray into over-ear headphones is the Sonos Ace, which packs in the noise cancellation, crisp sound, and comfortable fit that Athina loves. The battery life is also commendable. There are some kinks Sonos needs to iron out, but the headphones are a competitive option at $699.

Samsung QN90D
Samsung has many TVs that can claim the title of “best”, but with its largest size, Neo-QLED technology, and 4K resolution, the QN90D is easily the best model in Australia. While this TV isn’t as dim as the OLED model, the sheer size of this TV is worth noting, as is the color of the panel and the response time of the OS. If you want the best, the QN90D is definitely worth a look.

The Samsung QN90D is available now, with prices starting at $1,999 for the 43-inch model and going up to $12,999 for the 98-inch model.
Stove
In the cold winter months, Stoov’s heated “bottle” cushion could make a big difference, says our friend Alice Clark of Gizmodo Australia. The model Alice reviewed, Homey, is a great battery-operated cushion that heats up quickly and is great for lower back and full-body pain. It might seem a little too simple to put next to June’s favorite gadgets, but maybe tech is all you need.
