With the biggest travel season of the year finally upon us, I wanted to share some of my latest purchases and favorite travel gadgets that you might want to bring on your trip too.
New luggage – backpacks/wheelie bags
I hate using bus gates and stairs with heavy luggage. I have knee problems and carrying heavy luggage up and down stairs is a pain. It’s much easier to use a backpack, but sometimes it’s too heavy to carry through the airport or stand in line. So I did some research and found my new favorite piece of luggage: this clever convertible backpack on Amazon.
It features two wheels and a T-bar handle, so it can be used just like a two-wheeled suitcase, but when you arrive at your bus gate, all you have to do is unzip the compartment, detach the back strap, and connect it to the base of the bag. And there you have it, a backpack that’s comfortable to wear and much easier than carrying a heavy bag up stairs.
I like how the bag is structured with individual compartments that make it easy to find what’s inside. It can hold just as much stuff as a regular carry-on bag and has lots of pockets, making it easy to find what’s inside.
Two pockets on the front are convenient for storing liquids, passports, or anything else you want to keep close at hand.
Behind it is a large flat compartment that unzips completely for easy access – perfect for files or books.
Laptop pocket in main compartment
Moreover, the 45-liter main lockable compartment has a separate pocket for your laptop and can accommodate laptops up to 18 inches in the larger size and 17 inches in the smaller size. There are water bottle holders on both sides. The bag also weighs in at a very reasonable 2.4 kg.
You can buy it from Amazon for £64.99 in the large size and £53.99 in the small size.
Mobile Phone Holder
This is a great alternative to pulling out a tray table and holding your phone when you want to watch something on a plane. You can also mount your phone to a variety of locations, including your car, desk, suitcase, etc. The clamp attaches securely to tables, luggage handles, gym equipment, and more. It fits most phone sizes and folds up small enough to fit in your bag.
You can buy it from Amazon here for £7.99.
Mobile Phone Chargers
I love this little charger because it doesn’t require a cord to connect to your phone, charges much faster than stick-on types, and is very lightweight. You can also continue to use your phone while it’s charging. It has enough capacity to fully charge most iPhones.
It’s available to buy from Amazon here with a 15% off coupon.
Portable steamer
If you, like me, hate ironing and find that hotel ironing leaks water on your clothes and leaves iron marks, this is the product for you. The portable steamer is light and sufficient for most clothes. No ironing board is required, just hold the steamer over your clothes on a hanger and it will not only remove wrinkles but also help refresh them.
If you want the best, this one from Tefal will cost you £39, or there’s a more affordable generic one here for £17.
electric toothbrush
I have a separate electric toothbrush that I use for traveling because it takes up less space, weighs less, and runs on batteries without needing to be charged. I have a Sonic toothbrush that runs at 31,000 strokes per minute and has antibacterial vibrating bristles and a cap to keep it clean. It lasts up to 90 days of brushing on a single AAA battery.
You can buy it here for £13.99.
