Data storytelling startup Vizzu has raised $1.5 million and released a beta version of its animated data storytelling tool.
The Cinematic tool allows users to instantly transform their data into animated narratives, making it easier for them to explore this new form of storytelling that was previously only available to highly trained data visualization professionals.
The funding round included participation from Interactive Venture Partners Fund, backed by the family office of Interactive Brokers Group founder and chairman Thomas Peterffy, and Two Sigma.
“We are thrilled to be working with Vizzu to bring this technology to market,” said Peter Vidos, CEO and co-founder of Vizzu.
“This funding and beta release of our tools is the result of our team’s tireless hard work and vision, and marks the start of the next step in our exciting journey.
We look forward to improving the product based on user feedback and incorporating AI-enabled capabilities to further democratize data storytelling.”
“Two Sigma is excited to partner with NVIDIA to bring the power of AI to the market,” said Matt Greenwood, chief innovation officer and head of investment management engineering at Two Sigma.
“At Two Sigma, data drives our investment insights, and effectively communicating our data-driven hypotheses and research to diverse stakeholders is essential.
Vizzu’s innovative approach to data visualization fosters common understanding and we will continue to leverage their open source solutions internally.”
After raising funding, Vizzu expanded its team to 15 talented technologists and product people who built their animated chart engine, previously only available to developers and data scientists, into an easy-to-use SaaS platform.
