Anything over 85 degrees poses serious risks to your puppy’s health. So even if you don’t want to take them out for a walk, and you really want to, maybe this week isn’t the time to do so. Just like with kids, you want to avoid strenuous exercise, because it increases the risk of heatstroke. The same goes for dogs. Yes, dogs can get heatstroke, too. One way to protect your dog in this heat is to limit their activity to cooler times. For example, if you want to take your dog out for a walk, now might be the time. Take him to a shady area. Drink plenty of water. Be careful when walking on asphalt or pavement. Remember that dogs do not wear shoes and their paws are sensitive. When the temperatures are at their highest, do not leave your dog in the car and keep them inside.
